Lockdown life

Day after day, there’s more hills to climb,

Mile after mile, but I’ve got the time.

While some locked away, I opened the doors

And went for a ramble over the moors.

Camera in hand, glancing around

Listening carefully to every sound.

The chirruping birds, the rustle of leaves

The dripping of water, the noise on the breeze.

I’ve explored, devoured, delighted, observed.

Crept up on creatures making sure I’m not heard.

I’ve revelled in art, photography and hikes

Discovered new talents I soon learned to like.

My new normal meant soaking up rays,

It’s more like a dream on a beautiful day.

As I walked over dale, alone with my thoughts,

I felt a lot calmer and less overwrought.

I’ve wobbled at times, like everyone does,

But I’ve valued my friends, whose counsel’s a must.

My work it has changed, less frantic and full

Ten weeks of blogging, life’s not been dull

What will your diary of lockdown contain?

Gems you can treasure or moans and disdain.

Memories made or memories missed?

Birthday milestones without even a kiss.

Zooming has taken on a new meaning

Meeting IDs and passwords revealing.

Helping us all to see and to hear

Our friends far and wide that we all hold dear.

As life as we know it, begins again

Some changes we made should still remain.

Caring for others, our family and friends,

And treasuring each day that we get to spend.

Writing… it’s what I do
