A young couple who succeeded in getting a bailiff bill scrapped are urging others not to give in to ‘bullying’ tactics.
Kerry and Kieran Hanson made every effort to sort out their council tax arrears after a bank mistake left them owing Rossendale Council.
Although they had agreed a payment arrangement, the couple still had the bailiffs knocking at their door trying to secure property in lieu of the debt. At one stage they said they became prisoners in their own home.
Thanks to the local Citizen’s Advice Bureau they contested the charges and the council agreed to scrap them.
