Double trouble in primary class

Teachers at a primary school have been seeing double with nearly half of the Year 6 class being twins.

altCatherine was introduced to the amazing Year 6 class at St Anne's C of E School, Waterfoot, when she produced a school newspaper St Anne's Press last month.

The freelance story on the twins was then accepted by the Daily Express and used in their online version. Click to read the full story.

After being remiss in not updating my page for six weeks - you have two for the price of one this month!

Since Fearns Chat, my annual school newspaper at Rossendale high school Fearns (which I am delighted to announce I have been booked in to produce again in 2015) I have been crazily busy.

I have had another freelance story printed in the Big Issue in the North this time for TUSC Uganda. This is a charity founded by a Health Visitor in Bacup who has now taken a six month sabatical to develop Transporting Ugandan's Sick Children, to secure the charity's future. The interview was conducted with Carol in Uganda thanks to social media site Facebook where I have a business page. Catherine Smyth Media.

To start with my contracts - Haslingden High, Fearns, Pleckgate and Veterans In Communities.

There have been stories for Haslingden on teacher Ben Wood leading the way nationally in the teaching of RE and a caring student completing a Onesie Walk for a hospice as a thank you for the care given to her gradmother. Both stories were in the Rossendale Free Press and Lancashire Telegraph. All stories are also on the school website.

Fearns was also featured in the press for a Bushcraft Day, helping a charity to clean up Stacksteads, holding a picnic in school for Year 5s and many stories are still pending. All stories are also on the school website.

Pleckgate had two page leads in the Lancashire Telegraph for an exciting programme that is encouraging children to become competant reading millionaires and the school's charity efforts. All stories are also on the school website.

Veterans in Communities have also been in the papers with the official opening of the centre and a new gardening project that has just been funded. The monthly newsletter has also been produced.

A news story for new client The Performance Academy in Accrington was printed in the Accrington Observer and I was commissioned to write a piece about the Middleton Golden Cluster, which will be in Lancashire Life in September.

So far this year it has been a fantastically busy time and business is booming.
