Huge rabbit takes centre stage

A 4ft rabbit has now found a permanent home in a theatre in Bacup, the labour of love was createdalt by Kevin Edmondson who sadly died from cancer in April.

The beautifully crafted papier mache rabbit will now have a starring role in one of the youth theatre's productions Alice In Wonderland.

Catherine Smyth is contracted to write news stories for community charity REAL and the story was used in the Lancashire Telegraph and on About My Area.

It has been another very busy month.

Mid-Rossendale Credit Union employed Catherine Smyth to help promote the extension to its area. The story was featured in the Lancashire Telegraph and on About My Area.

News stories from Haslingden High and Fearns have dominated the School Noticeboard section of the Rossendale Free Press and the sporting sections of the Free Press and Lancashire Telegraph's Grassroots as well as being used on About My Area. Stories range from trips to Pompeii and Iceland to a student who has secured an accountancy apprenticeship with leading company KPMG.

The Big Issue in the North commissioned Catherine Smyth to evaluate the government's No Second Night Out policy targeting homelessness in a freelance news story.

Four more news stories have been written for Enterprising People In Ribble Valley and used in the Clitheroe Advertiser. As part of the work to promote Rossendale Business Awards a story launching a competition to design this year's award was used on About My Area and the Lancashire Telegraph.

Catherine Smyth has also written several freelance news stories for About My Area including covering the campaign to Save Barlow Fold from developers and the MPs support for the campaign and a heartwarming story of a teenager's fund-raiser after her father contracted cancer.

A School News in a Day project will be held at St Mary's RC School, Burnley, and the Fearns Chat week begins on June 24th.
